Altamaha Technical College students elected to state offices at Student Professional Development Conference
(February 13, 2012) – Three Altamaha Technical College students were elected to state offices during the 2012 Student Professional Development Conference, held Feb. 10-11 at Wiregrass Technical College in Valdosta.
David McDuffie, a Machine Tool Technology student on the Jesup campus, was elected as a 2012 officer of the National Technical Honor Society. Ashlee Graham, a Criminal Justice Technology student on the Golden Isles campus, and Matthew Tootle, a Criminal Justice Technology student on the Jesup campus, were both elected to serve on the Statewide Student Leadership Council board.
These three students launched a full campaign, complete with slogans, speeches, t-shirts and other giveaways, prior to winning the popular vote of their peers during the state election at the weekend conference.

Stephanie Hernandez to attend EAGLE Leadership Institute

JESUP, Ga. – Stephanie Hernandez has been chosen to represent Altamaha Technical College at the EAGLE Leadership Institute February 13-15, 2012.
President Lorette Hoover said the Leadership Institute recognizes and honors those students who have demonstrated superior academic achievement in adult education classes and programs, and congratulates Hernandez on her recent selection.
Henandez is a single mother of three children, ages 15 to 8. She moved to Baxley from Leesburg, Ga., “to change my life, and it has changed completely.”
Hernandez earned her GED in October 2010 from the Academic Support Center at the Altamaha Technical College Baxley Campus. She is enrolled in the Criminal Justice Program and anticipates graduation in Spring 2012. She credits her teachers in Altamaha Technical College’s adult education program with her success.

Altamaha Technical College recognizes student artwork
(February 13, 2012) –Altamaha Technical College is proud to recognize Glynn Academy Seniors Grace Foster and Skye Pullen, and Wayne County High School Senior Charity Daniels for their outstanding submissions to the State of Georgia’s Manufacturing Appreciation Week scholarship design contest.
Altamaha Technical College selected their artwork as three submissions to the statewide t-shirt design contest. If the artwork is selected, the winner will attend a celebration and recognition luncheon in Atlanta and can win up to a $500 scholarship for first prize, as well as have their artwork printed on the official Manufacturing Appreciation Week 2012 commemorative t-shirt.
